Working on location and from her studio deep in the woods of the Black Mountains of North Carolina, Ray creates landscapes using gestural marks to find immediacy and connection with her surroundings. This piece is from Danna's November 2023 collection, Transitions. In Danna's words: "In this series, I return to familiar landscapes to navigate a time of personal transitions by observing the ever
